Engineering Lead

We''re supporting a leading food production business in their search for an Engineering Lead to join their engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with leadership experience to take ownership of maintenance operations, drive continuous improvement, and develop a proactive engineering culture. You''ll play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, maximising uptime, and supporting operational performance across the site.

Core Duties:

• Leading and supporting the engineering team to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance activities
• Managing planned preventative maintenance programmes and driving improvements through the CMMS system
• Providing hands-on support with mechanical and electrical fault finding and breakdown response
• Prioritising engineering activities in line with production requirements to minimise downtime
• Leading engineering projects, working closely with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders
• Identifying and delivering improvements to equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency
• Developing safe systems of work and engineering procedures
• Coaching, mentoring, and developing the engineering team to improve capability and performance
• Monitoring engineering output to ensure high standards of workmanship and compliance
• Building effective relationships with contractors and ensuring all required documentation and procedures are in place

About You:

• Previous experience leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams
• Strong mechanical or electrical engineering background
• Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Hands-on approach to maintenance and fault finding
• Experience working within a manufacturing, production, or FMCG environment
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
• Proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
• Team player with the ability to lead from the front
