Electrical Engineer (Fully Qualified / Multi-Skilled) - NHS - CM23
Location: Bishops Stortford
Shifts: Monday to Friday (on-call rota required)
Time: 8am till 5pm
Pay: -25 per hour
On-Call: -100 per week standby fee + minimum 4-hour pay per call-out
Overview
We are seeking a fully qualified, multi-skilled Electrical Engineer to support the continuous operation of a busy Hospital environment.
This is a key role responsible for ensuring all electrical systems, machinery, and site facilities are maintained to the highest standard, minimising downtime and supporting efficient production.
This position would suit an experienced and proactive engineer who is confident working independently, handling call-outs, and contributing to continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of production and site equipment
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults quickly and effectively to minimise downtime
- Support mechanical maintenance where required as part of a multi-skilled approach
- Complete scheduled preventative maintenance tasks to ensure optimal equipment performance
- Respond to breakdowns and emergency call-outs as part of the on-call rota
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety regulations and company standards
- Work closely with Hospital teams to minimise disruption and maximise efficiency
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site
- Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment where required
Skills & Experience
- Fully qualified Electrical Engineer (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- Proven experience within a manufacturing, production or Healthcare environment
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Multi-skilled with basic mechanical knowledge
- Previous experience working on call-out / standby rotas (desirable)
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Proactive, reliable, and flexible approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Working Conditions
- Based primarily in Bishops Stortford
- On-call rota required, including evenings and weekends
