Mainframe Operations Engineer (Unisys/OpCon)3 - 6-Month Contract | Inside IR35 | Hybrid - South WalesWe''re looking for an experienced Mainframe Operations Engineer with hands-on Unisys Mainframe and OpCon experience to support and enhance critical business and payment systems within a highly regulated environment.You''ll play a key role in maintaining the availability, stability and performance of business-critical platforms, leading major incident resolution, driving automation and supporting continuous operational improvement.Key Responsibilities* Lead the resolution of major incidents, coordinating technical recovery and stakeholder communications.* Provide 3rd-line support for complex operational issues, driving root cause analysis and permanent resolution.* Improve platform reliability through monitoring, automation, operational tooling and job scheduling.* Administer Windows-based systems and SQL Server environments, ensuring performance, resilience and recoverability.* Lead system changes, releases and disaster recovery testing.* Work closely with Infrastructure, Development, Security and third-party suppliers to deliver operational excellence.* Champion ITIL best practices and continual service improvement.* Mentor colleagues and help develop technical capability across the team.
