EMC Proving Engineer

The Opportunity

A leading engineering organisation within the defence sector is seeking a hands-on EMC to support the validation and certification of advanced systems.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on complex, high-integrity products, ensuring they perform reliably in challenging electromagnetic environments. You’ll play a key role across the full test lifecycle from early-stage development through to qualification and certification.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Plan, design and execute system-level test activities
• Develop test setups, including instrumentation and data capture methods
• Prepare and support trials, ensuring readiness across hardware, software and facilities
• Coordinate test activities, including logistics and equipment availability
• Carry out hands-on testing in specialist environments (e.g. EMC chambers)
• Capture, analyse and interpret test data
• Produce clear technical reports and documentation
• Support product certification activities
• Collaborate with engineering teams and test facilities

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in EMC, RF testing or electronic systems validation
• A hands-on approach with a passion for practical engineering and testing
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to plan, execute and document technical work methodically
• Confident communicator, able to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Desirable Experience

• Familiarity with EMC or military standards (e.g. MIL-STD, Def-Stan)
• Background in electronics, electrical engineering, physics or similar
• Experience working with environmental or compliance testing facilities
