Our client is looking for an experienced Electronics Repair Technician to join a busy technical workshop in West London.

This is a practical, hands-on role for someone who enjoys fault finding, repairing electronic equipment and solving technical problems properly rather than simply replacing complete units.

You will work across a varied range of professional equipment, helping ensure items are safe, reliable and ready for continued use.

The role

You will be responsible for investigating faults, carrying out repairs and testing equipment before it is returned to service.

Typical duties will include:

• Diagnosing electrical and electronic faults
• Carrying out component-level repairs where appropriate
• Replacing defective components and assemblies
• Soldering and de-soldering both conventional and surface-mount components
• Testing repaired equipment and confirming correct operation
• Using standard electronic test equipment to support fault diagnosis
• Recording repairs and updating technical information accurately
• Identifying recurring faults or reliability issues
• Supporting the management of commonly used replacement parts and components
• Assisting colleagues with unusual or more complex technical problems
• Carrying out general inspection and quality checks on equipment

There may also be occasions where you support the assessment of new equipment, investigate intermittent faults or assist with other practical workshop activity.

What we are looking for

You will need previous practical experience repairing electronic equipment and should be comfortable diagnosing faults rather than relying solely on board or module replacement.

A qualification in electronics, electrical engineering or a related technical discipline would be expected, together with good practical workshop experience.

You should be comfortable using equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes, reading technical information and working methodically through faults.

Good soldering skills are important, including experience working with smaller electronic components and printed circuit boards.

You should also have reasonable mechanical ability and be confident dismantling, inspecting and reassembling equipment safely and accurately.

Experience gained with sound, video, lighting, broadcast, production, communications or other specialist electronic equipment would be particularly relevant.

However, applications may also be considered from candidates with strong transferable experience gained in consumer electronics, industrial electronics, field service, bench repair or another technically demanding repair environment.

Basic computer skills and the ability to maintain clear and accurate repair records are also required.
