Electronics Engineer

Location: Cambridge (CB25)Duration: Permanent Hours: 37.5 per week 8am - 4pm (Monday to Friday)Salary: CompetitiveJob Reference: 36073Polytec are seeking an Electronics Engineer for a local technology company to support the transition of products from development into production. The role focuses on production test, process development and improving the efficiency and reliability of electronic assemblies.Responsibilities:- Support the introduction of new products into production, ensuring designs are suitable for manufacture and test- Define and manage bills of materials (BOMs) within ERP systems for new products- Develop and implement production test strategies, including functional test, calibration and verification- Design and develop test fixtures, jigs and automated test equipment- Collaborate with software/embedded teams to support test development where required- Ensure electronic designs meet requirements for production through DFM/DFT reviews- Support and optimise processes for PCB assembly, cable harnessing, calibration and system integration- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure consistent quality and yield- Drive continuous improvement to enhance production efficiency, test coverage and product quality- Provide hands-on support to troubleshoot electronic and system-level issues in production- Carry out root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for failures and defects- Support non-conformance investigations and quality improvement activities- Create and maintain clear production documentation, including test procedures and work instructionsRequirements:Essential:- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or similar- Experience in electronics production, manufacturing engineering or design support- Strong understanding of PCB assembly, electronic systems integration and production testing- Experience developing test equipment, fixtures or verification processes- Ability to diagnose faults at component, board and system level- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail- Comfortable working across development and production environmentsDesirable:- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ISO, IPC, ESD) is advantageous- Experience with test software, scripting, or automation is beneficial- Knowledge of DFM/DFT and lean manufacturing principles is desirablePlease contact us as soon as possible for more details or apply below!
