Overview

On the back of a record orderbook, we are developing our next generation radar system and other advanced electronic systems. We are building up our Electronics Engineering team with a mix of skills and experiences covering both Analogue and Digital circuit design, including involvement in Microwave RF design.

You will be involved in prototyping, circuit design, PCB layout, debug, design verification, and production support. We use Altium, so recent hands-on experience of component library management, schematic capture, and especially PCB layout & routing is essential.

Depending on your skills, you will be involved in either system, module or sub-module (PCB) level design. Our highly integrated radar systems require detailed design at all levels to ensure that they operate at peak performance under all environmental conditions and for many years. Therefore, close cooperation between all team members is key. We support hybrid working but we also encourage attendance in our open plan office, where we pride ourselves on effective cross team communication.

Company information: Blighter designs and sells electronic-scanning ground radar systems for national border security, counter-drone, perimeter security and coastline security. Our radars have a reputation for performance and reliability, protecting lives and critical assets worldwide. Due to company expansion, we will soon be moving to new premises in Duxford, S.Cambs. (near the Duxford IWM)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop advanced analogue and/or digital circuits including their power supplies
  • Use Altium for component management, schematic entry and PCB layout and routing
  • Perform simulation, testing, debugging, and verification of the design
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers.
  • Senior staff will be expected to coordinate design reviews and ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
  • There are line management opportunities for senior staff and the option to support and mentor junior engineers

Key Requirements:

  • Demonstrable analogue and/or digital electronic design skills for complex systems
  • Experience in developing electronic circuits from prototype through to validation and production
  • Degree (BEng/MEng or equivalent) in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Practical experience using Altium
  • Experience using appropriate laboratory test equipment

We have roles at various levels available.
