Location: London (Hybrid) - Salary: Up to -75,000 + Car Allow. + Bonus + Ex. Bens - Permanent

The Role

This is a dual technical and people leadership role (approx. 60/40 split), where you''ll:

• Lead the design and development of low-voltage electronic subsystems within advanced power equipment
• Take full ownership of the hardware development lifecycle - from concept through to validation and production
• Provide hands-on technical direction across power electronics, analogue/digital design, and FPGA development
• Line manage and develop a team (-5 engineers), including:
• Performance management and reviews
• Coaching, mentoring, and career development
• Resource planning and team growth
• Drive engineering best practice, ensuring compliance with standards such as ISO9001 and IEC safety requirements
• Work cross-functionally with teams across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain

What We''re Looking For

You''ll bring a strong mix of technical expertise and proven people management experience:

Technical Experience

• Solid background in power electronics and complex hardware design
• Experience with FPGA or CPLD design (VHDL or Verilog) - ideally using Altera or Xilinx
• Knowledge of analogue and digital electronics, PCB design, and system-level integration
• Experience across the full hardware development lifecycle in a regulated environment
• Familiarity with Altium Designer (Zuken experience is a plus)

Leadership & Management

• Proven line management experience (not just project or technical leadership)
• Demonstrated ability to manage performance, develop individuals, and build effective teams
• Experience leading teams of at least 2-3 engineers, with accountability for delivery and people development
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across multiple stakeholders
