What you''ll be doing;
- Carry out electrical and mechanical fault-finding, defect rectification and planned preventative maintenance within a modern Energy Recovery Facility.
- Maintain and diagnose faults on overhead cranes, grabs, inverters, battery and UPS systems, transformers, 415V and 11kV switchgear, protective devices, generator AVR and excitation systems.
- Maintain and fault-find rotating equipment, including 415VAC motors, pumps, conveyors, motorised valves and associated control gear.
- Interface with PLC controllers and support the Electrical, Mechanical and Control & Instrumentation teams during plant breakdowns.
- Use electrical test equipment, workshop tools, drilling machines, lathes and bench-fitting equipment.
- Report plant defects, identify root causes and recommend improvements or modifications to plant and equipment.
- Liaise with Operations and maintenance teams to coordinate repairs and support efficient plant operation.
- Supervise company and contractor personnel when required.
- Maintain clean, tidy and safe work areas and comply with all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.
- Record maintenance activities on the computerised maintenance management system and support 365-day maintenance cover, including rota, weekend and out-of-hours working.
What we''re looking for;
- A recognised engineering apprenticeship and relevant electrical and/or mechanical maintenance qualifications.
- Proven experience diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience working in a continuous-process, power-generation, industrial or similar operational environment.
- Practical knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques and computerised maintenance management systems.
- Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment, motors, pumps, conveyors, switchgear, transformers, generators, cranes or similar industrial plant.
- Competence using electrical test equipment and general workshop machinery and tools.
- The ability to work safely with electrical and mechanical equipment, including high-voltage systems where appropriately trained and authorised.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-skilled maintenance team.
- Flexibility to work a staggered rota covering seven-day, 365-day maintenance operations, including weekends, overtime and out-of-hours call-outs.
- A proactive approach to diagnosing faults, resolving plant defects and improving equipment reliability.
