: Electrician - School Refits
Location: Levenshulme, Manchester
Contract Type: Temporary / Fixed-Term / Permanent (Specify)
Working Hours: Full-time (Typically 40 hours/week)
Rate: -2025 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
Overview
We are seeking qualified and experienced electricians to work on a series of school refurbishment projects in and around Crewe. Projects include electrical upgrades, rewiring, installation of energy-efficient lighting systems, and ensuring all works are compliant with current safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, maintenance, and testing of electrical systems in primary and secondary schools.
- Replace and upgrade lighting to LED systems.
- Install trunking, conduit, distribution boards, sockets, and switches.
- Work to electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and building plans.
- Test and inspect electrical systems and complete relevant certification.
- Ensure compliance with BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
- Liaise with site managers, other trades, and school staff as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with health & safety guidelines.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
- 2391 or 2394/2395 Testing & Inspection (desirable).
- Valid ECS or JIB Gold Card.
- Proven experience in commercial or educational fit-outs/refits.
- Ability to work from plans and use initiative on site.
- Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
Desirable
- PASMA/IPAF or other site-related certifications.
- First aid training.
- Experience with emergency lighting and fire alarm systems.
Additional Information
- Some work may be carried out during school holidays or after hours to avoid disruption to students and staff.
- PPE and tools must be provided by the candidate unless otherwise stated.
- Overtime may be available depending on site schedules.
