Job Summary:
Electrical Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of electrical maintenance, installation, and repair work across the hospital site. The role ensures the delivery of a safe, compliant, and effective electrical service in a complex healthcare environment, directly supporting patient care and operational continuity.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems, plant, and equipment across the hospital estate.
- Diagnose and repair faults on electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, emergency lighting, nurse call systems, fire alarms, and other hospital-critical services.
- Carry out electrical installation work in compliance with current IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and Trust policies, maintaining high standards of safety and hygiene.
- Participate in the on-call rota to provide emergency response to electrical faults outside of normal working hours.
- Complete and maintain accurate records of work undertaken using digital systems and job sheets.
- Liaise with clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure minimal disruption during works and a professional approach to patient safety.
- Support the Estates team with minor project work, upgrades, and refurbishments where required.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent apprenticeship.
- City & Guilds 18th Edition (BS 7671).
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance, ideally in a healthcare or similar critical environment.
- Good understanding of health and safety legislation and practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Experience working in NHS or healthcare estates.
- City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing).
