About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join the Morecambe Hub Operations team in Barrow-in-Furness.
As an Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out routine and non-routine electrical maintenance, fault finding and defect repair across operational plant and equipment associated with gas production, processing and condensate storage.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical maintenance professional with an oil & gas, petrochemical or process operations background to join a technically focused team and play an important role in maintaining the reliability, safety and availability of critical plant.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience in electrical maintenance within the oil & gas or petrochemical industry
- Experience working within production, processing or industrial maintenance environments
- BTEC Ordinary Certificate or equivalent qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline
- Sound understanding of electrical and engineering principles
- Experience with plant maintenance, fault finding and defect rectification
- Strong understanding of HSE and process safety requirements
- Experience working with permit-to-work and safe systems of work
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- HV, SAEP or REP qualification is desirable
- Commitment to maintaining relevant technical competencies and mandatory training
What You Will Be Doing
As an Electrical Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out routine and non-routine electrical maintenance and defect repair on operational plant and equipment.
- Investigating complex technical faults and identifying effective solutions to return plant and equipment to normal operating service.
- Carrying out maintenance activities in accordance with approved procedures and operational requirements.
- Preparing technical reports and maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
- Supporting commissioning and decommissioning activities to ensure planned operating programmes are delivered safely and efficiently.
- Contributing to the design and commissioning of plant modifications.
- Identifying opportunities for modifications and improvements to maintain plant reliability and availability.
- Supervising contractors, vendors and other personnel where required.
- Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with company procedures, safe working practices and permit-to-work requirements.
- Supporting the wider maintenance and operations teams as required.
- Undertaking Power Technician duties and, when appropriately qualified, acting as SAEP/REP.
- Participating in emergency response duties and maintaining the required competencies.
- Supporting a positive Incident-Free Workplace culture and maintaining high standards of HSE and process safety.

You will be expected to actively support the company''s HSE and process safety standards, ensuring that all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with established procedures.
You will be required to:
Follow all relevant HSE policies, procedures and company standards.
Ensure appropriate permits and safe systems of work are in place.
Identify and manage workplace hazards.
Maintain a strong focus on process safety and environmental performance.
Complete all required mandatory and compliance training.
Maintain the technical competencies required to perform the role safely and effectively.

Operations Support Supervisors
Electrical, Mechanical and Instrument Technicians
Contractors and external service providers
You will need to demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across different disciplines.
About You
We are looking for an Electrical Technician who is technically capable, safety-focused and able to work effectively in a demanding industrial environment.
You should be confident investigating electrical faults, carrying out maintenance activities and working to established procedures. Experience within an oil & gas, petrochemical, gas processing or similar process environment is particularly important.
You will also need to demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining the competencies required for the position.
