Job Description:
- We are looking for an electrical surveyor (ideally with some mechanical experience) to support our existing team to carry out asset data captures and condition surveys on Rail & commercial property infrastructure across the Midlands.
- The job involves reviewing electrical distribution, wiring, fixed equipment, containment systems, lighting columns, electric water heaters etc visually to highlight defects.
- Defects are recorded and reported back including notifying the client of items which are immediately dangerous and need urgent attention.
- Works are typically carried out by one engineer and supported by a second engineer on larger sites.
- Lighting columns are to be lowered to carryout inspection and photographs taken.
- Survey information is recorded on a purpose build app using an iPad.
- There is a small amount of computer based work to tidy up the reports, respond to survey queries and to raise defect reports.
Summary of Role:
- To conduct visual asset validation and condition surveys of M&E assets, predominantly electrical systems and domestic scale mechanical systems.
- Submit reports to Maintenance Helpdesk where urgent remedial action is required.
- Site based role conducting surveys predominantly across Stations, Maintenance Depots and Rail Property.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications Needed:
- Extensive knowledge of electrical (and mechanical preferable) assets and infrastructure.
- Awareness of legislative requirements in respect of building services installations such as BS7671 Wiring Regulations to 18th Edition.
- High level of safety awareness working in safety critical environments on Railway infrastructure.
- Organised, methodical and logical and able to work on own initiative and manage own time.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of client management.
- Attention to detail, quality driven approach.
Desirable experience (Beneficial but not essential):
- Knowledge of building services installation and maintenance (SFG20).
- Experience with AutoCad to update and produce layout plans would be beneficial.
Qualifications:
- ECS Gold Card
- City & Guilds Electrical Installations Level 3 (or Equivalent)
- 18th Edition
- HNC Electrical Related (Desirable)
Location: ‘On the Road’ – travelling to Train Stations & Rail Depots across the Midlands
Preferred location – Birmingham area
Duration: Full Time / Part Time (Permanent Role)
