Job Title: Electrical Project Engineer
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Job Overview:
Branta recruitment are seeking an experienced and proactive Electrical Project Engineer to join a growing team and support the successful delivery of a number of major commercial developments in the North East. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring all electrical elements of the projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

You will work collaboratively with design, procurement, and site teams, while acting as a key liaison between the client, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Delivery:

  • Ensure electrical aspects of projects are completed to schedule, within budget, and in line with client specifications.

  • Oversee coordination of electrical works with other disciplines including BMS and controls.

  • Attend and contribute to project meetings with internal teams and clients.

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical guidance to design and procurement teams throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Assist in the review and preparation of technical submissions, designs, and O&M documentation.

  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for accuracy and compliance.

Site Management:

  • Carry out regular site inspections to monitor progress and ensure adherence to electrical standards, health & safety regulations, and QA/QC protocols.

  • Work closely with on-site delivery teams and subcontractors to resolve issues and maintain workflow.

  • Support commissioning processes and ensure as-built documentation is correctly managed.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as a key point of contact for clients (including Principal Contractor representatives), ensuring clear communication and high levels of satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with project and commercial teams to address client queries and requests effectively.

Requirements:

  • Degree/HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • Proven experience delivering electrical packages on commercial construction projects.

  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, controls, BMS, and building services.

  • Understanding of relevant regulations and standards (BS7671, IET wiring regulations, etc.).

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and liaise with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • CSCS card and relevant site safety training (SMSTS/SSSTS) preferred.

Desirable:

  • Experience working on large-scale commercial or mixed-use developments.

  • Familiarity with project management tools and platforms (e.g., Fieldview, Viewpoint, or similar).

  • Awareness of sustainability considerations in M&E systems.
