Electrical Project Engineer
Bring your electrical expertise into a role where you can influence every stage of project delivery.
Apex M&E Solutions is recruiting for an established building services contractor seeking an Electrical Project Engineer or Project Manager. You will take ownership of electrical and combined M&E projects from contract award through procurement, installation and commissioning to final handover.
Why this opportunity
The role offers direct involvement with clients, design teams and site delivery across commercial, healthcare, education, industrial and retail projects. Applications are welcomed from established project managers and technically strong project engineers. Supervisors or contracts engineers ready to progress will also be considered where they can demonstrate project ownership and commercial awareness.
What you will do
- Set project programmes, procurement schedules and labour plans; coordinate mobilisation and site activities.
- Review drawings and specifications, identify gaps early and manage technical submittals and RFIs.
- Manage subcontractors, direct labour and suppliers, keeping installation quality and progress on track.
- Coordinate LV distribution, containment, lighting, emergency lighting, controls and fire alarms as applicable.
- Resolve interfaces with mechanical plant, BMS and other trades while maintaining clear client communication.
- Monitor expenditure, labour performance and forecast costs; identify variations and support agreement of costs.
- Lead testing, commissioning and snagging, ensuring certification, O&M manuals and as-installed information are complete.
What you will bring
- Practical electrical installation or building services experience and a track record of UK commercial project delivery.
- Sound knowledge of LV systems and relevant regulations, with the ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
- Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and site activities, with an understanding of safe isolation, RAMS, CDM and permits.
- Strong planning, problem-solving and client-facing skills, plus commercial awareness of procurement, variations and cost control.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
An electrical apprenticeship, relevant electrical qualifications, HNC, HND or degree would be welcomed, alongside SMSTS or SSSTS. Experience with an electrical or M&E contractor, or delivering combined M&E projects, would be advantageous.
