Electrical Mate

About the Role:

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Electrical Mate to support the installation, maintenance, and testing of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging systems across a variety of commercial and public sector projects. This role plays a vital part in assisting electricians on-site, particularly with containment and cabling work, to ensure smooth delivery of EV charging infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the installation and commissioning of EV charging stations (single and three-phase).

• Carry out electrical containment work including conduit, trunking, traywork, and ladder racks.

• Help pull and install power and data cables to EV charging equipment.

• Support testing, inspection, and fault-finding processes under supervision.

• Read and interpret basic electrical drawings and site plans.

• Work collaboratively with electricians, site supervisors, and other trades to meet project deadlines.

• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards at all times.

• Ensure work meets relevant standards, including the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations where applicable.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as an Electrical Mate or similar role.

• Familiarity with containment systems and general electrical site practices.

• Basic understanding of electrical drawings and installations.

• IPAF qualification (preferred).

• Awareness of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (desirable but not essential).

• Strong team ethic and good communication skills.

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn on the job.

• Full UK driving licence (preferred for mobile roles).
