Electrical Maintenance Technician - London Campuses

thefutureworks, Coventry University''s dedicated recruitment agency, is currently recruiting for a Campus Services Technician (Electrical) to join the Estates team supporting its London campuses in Dagenham, Whitechapel, Vauxhall, and Greenwich.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and skilled technician with an NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification (or equivalent) to play a key role in ensuring a safe, efficient, and high-quality learning environment for staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out a range of reactive and planned maintenance tasks across university buildings, focusing on electrical systems.
* Undertake lighting repairs, LED upgrades, and replace damaged sockets and fittings.
* Support Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities including:
o Fire alarm and emergency lighting tests
o Legionella control (e.g. changing TMVs, flushing systems)
o Fire door inspections
* Conduct minor repairs such as decorating, plumbing, and general building maintenance.
* Maintain accurate records of work, inspections, and compliance checks.
* Assist with room setups, office moves, and university events.
* Oversee external contractors to ensure work is carried out safely and to required standards.
* Proactively report and resolve hazards or non-compliance issues.
* Collaborate closely with the Campus Services Officer and Estates team to deliver excellent service.

About You:
We are seeking candidates who are hands-on, reliable, and take pride in maintaining high standards. You will need:
* NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification (or equivalent) and relevant electrical maintenance experience.
* Good knowledge of lighting systems, electrical fault finding, and general maintenance work.
* Understanding of health & safety, statutory compliance, and maintenance best practices.
* Ability to work from schedules, keep accurate records, and communicate clearly.
* A customer-focused attitude and strong problem-solving skills.
Additional qualifications in general maintenance or health & safety would be an advantage.

Additional Information:
* Primarily based at Dagenham with some travel to other London sites.
* Occasional flexibility required for out-of-hours work or events.
* Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (shift pattern: 07:00-15:30, 5 days over 7 including some weekend cover)
