Electrical Maintenance Engineer

We are recruiting for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established industrial business based in Dalbeattie.

This is a permanent opportunity to join a busy engineering and maintenance team, providing electrical maintenance, fault-finding and breakdown support across a wide range of production plant and machinery.

Working alongside a team of Engineers and reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in keeping the site running safely and efficiently. The position will involve a combination of planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, electrical fault finding and responding to machinery breakdowns.

The Role

As Electrical Maintenance Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across production equipment and machinery.
• Diagnosing electrical faults and completing repairs to minimise production downtime.
• Troubleshooting and testing equipment, control systems and associated software.
• Responding promptly to breakdowns across production lines.
• Working with electrical, electromechanical, pneumatic and mechanical equipment.
• Installing and replacing components including motors, pumps and valves.
• Carrying out planned maintenance inspections and identifying potential faults before they result in breakdowns.
• Working with PLC-controlled equipment and systems.
• Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency and performance.
• Working closely with production and engineering colleagues to ensure equipment remains safe and operational.
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship and health & safety.

About You

We are looking for someone with a strong electrical engineering or maintenance background, ideally gained within a manufacturing, production, processing or other industrial environment.

You should be technically minded, comfortable fault finding on industrial equipment and confident working both independently and as part of an engineering team.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Electrician, Shift Electrician or similar.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and repair skills.
• Experience working with industrial plant and machinery.
• Experience with PLC systems.
• A good understanding of planned and preventative maintenance.
• Ideally, a City & Guilds 17th or 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations qualification, or equivalent.
• Good communication skills.
• Confidence using computer-based maintenance systems and software.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work effectively under pressure and respond to breakdown situations.
• A strong commitment to health and safety.
