We are recruiting on behalf of an established electrical services contractor that delivers specialist compliance, testing, and maintenance solutions across residential, commercial, and public-sector properties throughout Greater London.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electricalal Inspection Engineer to join their growing field operations team, covering predominantly South London locations. This role is ideal for a qualified electrician with strong inspection, testing, and remedial expertise who enjoys a varied workload and working autonomously.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
The Role This position focuses on carrying out periodic electrical inspections and compliance assessments across a broad range of occupied and vacant premises. Alongside inspection activities, you will undertake remedial works to address identified defects and ensure installations meet current regulatory standards.
Where inspection outcomes indicate significant non-compliance, you may also be involved in larger corrective projects, including the replacement and renewal of electrical circuits and systems.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining electrical safety standards while providing a professional service to customers and stakeholders.
Key Duties
- Perform electrical condition assessments and compliance inspections on low-voltage installations.
- Identify defects, coding observations appropriately and recommending corrective actions.
- Complete remedial electrical works arising from inspection findings.
- Investigate, diagnose, and rectify electrical faults across a variety of environments.
- Produce detailed inspection reports, certification, and supporting documentation.
- Capture job records, photographs, and test results using digital reporting systems.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with current industry regulations and standards.
- Build positive working relationships with residents, customers, site representatives, and colleagues.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, professionalism, and customer care.
- Follow company procedures relating to quality, safety, and compliance.
- Participate in technical development programmes and ongoing training.
- Support wider operational requirements when required.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical installations and compliance standards.
- Extensive experience carrying out inspection, testing, and certification activities.
- A good understanding of fault diagnosis and corrective maintenance techniques.
- Confidence in interpreting test results and identifying non-compliant installations.
- Experience producing accurate certification and technical reports.
- Ability to manage workloads independently while contributing positively to a wider team.
- Competent use of handheld technology and digital job management systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Reliable and professional approach with excellent time management.
- Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification or equivalent.
- Inspection & Testing qualification (2391 series or equivalent).
- Current Wiring Regulations qualification (18th Edition or latest equivalent).
- Full UK Driving Licence with at least 12 months driving history.
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services.
- AM2 practical competency assessment.
- Additional experience within housing maintenance, property compliance, local authority, or asset management contracts.
