With continued growth and a strong forward order book, they are now looking to strengthen their Birmingham office with the appointment of an Electrical Design Engineer.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer with around 4-6 years' building services experience who is looking to take the next step in their career.
Working as part of an experienced multidisciplinary team, you'll be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, producing high-quality electrical building services designs across all RIBA stages. You'll work on technically challenging projects while receiving ongoing mentoring, structured CPD and clear progression towards Senior Engineer and Chartership.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce electrical building services designs across RIBA Stages 1-7
- Design power distribution, small power, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm and data systems
- Carry out electrical calculations including cable sizing, load assessments and power distribution using Trimble Amtech or equivalent software
- Produce lighting calculations using Dialux, Relux or similar software
- Prepare specifications, technical reports and supporting design documentation
- Produce and coordinate AutoCAD drawings, with Revit coordination where required
- Ensure designs comply with BS7671, IET Wiring Regulations and current British Standards
- Coordinate designs with mechanical engineers, architects, structural engineers and the wider project team
- Manage your own workload across multiple live projects
- Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians where appropriate
- Contribute towards technical development, innovation and continuous improvement within the team
- HNC, HND or Degree in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Approximately 4-6 years' experience within a Building Services consultancy
- Experience designing electrical systems including power, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm and small power
- Experience using Trimble Amtech or equivalent electrical design software
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, with Revit experience advantageous
- Strong understanding of BS7671, IET Wiring Regulations and current British Standards
- Ability to manage projects independently while working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Working towards Chartership with CIBSE, IET or an equivalent professional body is desirable
- Full UK driving licence preferred
- Right to work in the UK (please note sponsorship is not available)
