Electrical Design Engineer
About the Client
Our client is a long-established leader in the electrical equipment manufacturing industry, with over 100 years of engineering excellence. They specialise in the design and production of high-power resistors used across a wide range of industries, including power generation, transmission, industrial automation, marine, telecoms, and rail.
Their products support key applications such as medium and high-voltage system earthing, dynamic braking for motors and drives, and load testing for batteries and generators. Their customer base includes major contractors, OEMs, and end users across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Role OverviewThe client is looking to appoint a capable and motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join their engineering team, supporting the development and manufacture of industrial resistor systems. This role involves working on bespoke electrical and mechanical designs, contributing to new product development, and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesInterpret project requirements and develop appropriate electrical design solutions.
Produce accurate calculations, technical documentation, and design overviews to support manufacturing.
Review and approve engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BoMs), and other technical documents.
Assist in research, development, and product testing initiatives as required.
Select appropriate electrical components for use in control systems and assemblies.
Create and modify 3D CAD models (primarily sheet metal), and prepare detailed drawings for production.
Perform mechanical design tasks, including analysis, simulation, and verification testing.
Check and approve design work completed by other engineers.
Ensure all design work adheres to internal quality standards and ISO 9001 procedures, including use of ECNs.
Investigate technical issues, carry out root cause analysis, and propose effective solutions.
Provide engineering support across departments including Production, Sales, Service, and Customer Support.
Manage multiple design tasks simultaneously, delivering on time and within budget.
Stay current with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Promote continuous improvement and contribute to the adoption of new tools and processes.
Undertake other duties as required by the business.
