Our client, a leader in the data centre industry, is currently recruiting for an experienced EHS Manager to join their project delivery team in Blyth, United Kingdom. This position will be responsible for leading and managing all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) activities on site, ensuring full compliance with legislative and company requirements while driving a culture of safety excellence throughout the project.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Take overall responsibility for the management and coordination of Environmental, Health & Safety activities across all phases of the project.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously maintain EHS policies, procedures, and management systems in accordance with company standards and legal obligations.
  • Champion a positive safety culture, ensuring health and safety remains a core focus across all project teams and subcontractors.
  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement effective control measures.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and subcontractors to ensure EHS requirements are integrated into day-to-day operations.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance with project health and safety standards.
  • Review and authorise key safety documentation, including Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Oversee incident investigations, ensuring accurate reporting and the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of site inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing EHS training programmes.
  • Maintain comprehensive records relating to audits, inspections, incidents, training, and key safety performance indicators.
  • Attend and contribute to Site Meetings, Safety Meetings, and Project Review sessions.
  • Produce and distribute EHS reports, updates, and performance metrics for senior leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental legislation, permit requirements, and project sustainability objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, proactively address EHS concerns, and drive continuous enhancement of project safety performance.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in an EHS position within the construction, engineering, or related sectors.
  • Strong working knowledge of current health and safety legislation, industry standards, and recognised best practices.
  • Proven experience managing EHS activities on construction projects.
  • Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are essential.
  • Ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders while promoting a proactive and positive safety culture.
  • Previous experience within data centre, industrial, or mission-critical environments would be highly beneficial.
