EHS Manager (Contract) - Heysham LA3

-31.00 per hour | 37.5 hrs/week (08:00-16:00) | 3 months | Site-based

We''re recruiting on behalf of our client, a specialist supplier of high-quality research, production and custom chemicals and reagents for organic, inorganic, analytical, life science and materials applications. This is an opportunity for an experienced EHS Manager to lead site compliance, safety culture and continuous improvement, working as part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in a highly regulated environment-so their teams can stay focused on what they do

- Lead the site EHS management system and drive a strong safety culture

• Ensure compliance with HSE/EA requirements and corporate standards
• Own key regulatory areas: COMAH (Lower Tier), IPPC/Environmental Permitting, Waste Management permits, process safety
• Support operational teams with risk assessments (COSHH, DSEAR, manual handling), audits and training
• Review incidents/near misses, lead/support investigations using RCA, and drive corrective actions
• Deliver clear communication across the workforce (toolbox talks, briefs, presentations)
• Manage EHS metrics/reporting and support EHS budget and improvement plans

What we''re looking for

• Strong hands-on EHS leadership in chemical / petro / pharma / chemical waste / FMCG (or similar regulated industry)
• Confident working with Regulators and site leadership teams
• Good knowledge of ISO 14001 EMS, HSE/EA guidance and ACOPs
• Proven training, influencing, investigation/RCA, and behavioural safety/human factors experience

Qualifications

• Degree (OSH/Environmental/Risk or similar)
• NEBOSH (Diploma or General Certificate)
• IOSH membership (Tech/Grad/Chartered)
• IEMA membership (Associate/Full/Chartered)
