Job summary: An exciting position within the Cannock Mental Health Support Team. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Education Mental Health Practitioner/Children''s Wellbeing Practitioner. You will build on the work within allocated schools with a varied role including group work, assemblies, assessment and interventions, and supporting schools to develop whole school approaches to mental health and wellbeing.You will be skilled in conducting mental health assessments of children and young people (CYP) presenting with common mental health difficulties such as anxiety and low mood, including risk assessments and identifying the right level of support.There is scope for creativity and opportunities to work with CYP and parents/carers to drive the whole school approach agenda. You will be part of an established CAMHS team, operating as a joint initiative between health and education, across the Staffordshire locality and other MHSTs in South Staffordshire. You will deliver parent, staff wellbeing, 1:1 and group work sessions.Responsibilities
Assess and deliver outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions in educational settings for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, working in collaboration with the education function of the setting.Work in effective, evidence-based partnership with children, young people, families and educators to develop intervention plans and outcomes.Support and empower children, young people, parents/carers and families and educators to make informed choices about interventions offered.Operate from an inclusive values base that recognises and respects diversity.Accept referrals within educational settings according to local and national protocols.Undertake and record accurate risk assessments and manage risk in line with local procedures, including safeguarding protocols and Local Safeguarding Board guidance.Adhere to regulations, processes and procedures within the educational service (HR policies, training, referral protocols, emergency procedures) and signpost referrals for more complex needs to appropriate services.About us and Benefits
