EDS Engineer

A leading Formula 1 team is looking for a Contract EDS Engineer to support the mechanical packaging and integration of electrical systems in high-performance race car environments. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role requiring experience in delivering robust and lightweight electrical hardware installations.Key Responsibilities:Mechanical packaging of electrical components including:Enclosures, brackets, housings, and trunkingBatteries, busbars, PCB mounting, and cold platesHigh-voltage composite battery pack enclosuresThermal-mechanical design:Cooling calculationsDucting, heatsink specification, and integrationDesign and specification of AV mounting systems:Sizing of bushingsTest definition and validation planningDevelopment of tooling and installation processesClose collaboration with electrical, composites, and design teams to ensure optimal system performance and integrationRequired Skills and Experience:Proven experience in EDS design within motorsport, automotive, aerospace, or EV sectorsStrong understanding of mechanical design principles for electrical systems packagingFamiliarity with thermal management of electronic systemsCAD proficiency (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA V5 preferred)Experience with composite enclosures, lightweight materials, and packaging constraintsKnowledge of vibration and fatigue in electrical mounting systemsAbility to deliver high-quality solutions under tight deadlines in a high-performance engineering ..... full job details .....
