The Economics Insights Manager will play a central role in delivering high-quality research, robust economic analysis, and strong thought leadership that enhances organisation''s reputation as a trusted voice on financial, business, and economic matters and helps it achieve its ambition within its new strategy Direction 2030 to lead conversations on issues that matter for the profession and business. Working closely with the Chief Economist, the postholder will generate unique and impactful insights that support members, inform public debate, and underpin policy engagement with government and other stakeholders
Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear and impactful economic research and commentary on key trends, data, fiscal events and developments relevant to the accountancy profession for organisation''s publications, media, and digital platforms.
- Produce high-quality primary research, including delivery of organisation''s Business Confidence Monitor.
- Provide vigorous economic analysis to inform organisation''s policy positions and to present to external audiences, identifying key trends and explaining the ''why'' behind the numbers.
- Help ensure the highest ethical and methodological standards and best practices are used for conducting research, insight and data collection.
- Manage projects with external research partners, think tanks, and academics to generate original insights.
Requirements:
- Extensive background in economics, with strong experience in applied economic analysis, research, or forecasting (e.g., from government, consultancy, or professional bodies).
- Strong expertise in producing economic commentary, reports, or publications for external technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience of running primary research projects with expertise in questionnaire design, sampling techniques, weighting and quota management to avoid data bias. Knowledge of Market Research Society''s Code of Conduct would be desirable.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, including proficiency with economic data and analytical tools such as advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, SQL, or Power BI.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and collaborative skills with the ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders.
