EC&I Design Engineer-

Role Overview:

  • Develop EC&I design deliverables across the full project lifecycle (FEED through to detailed design and commissioning) for gas and industrial infrastructure projects
  • Produce electrical and instrumentation drawings, including SLDs, cable diagrams/schedules, loop diagrams, instrument hook-ups, control panel layouts, marshalling cabinets, and hazardous area layouts
  • Prepare and update P&IDs, equipment schedules, instrument indexes, and control system architecture documentation
  • Support control philosophies, cause & effect matrices, cable routing, and containment layouts
  • Provide technical support, including design calculations, equipment selection, vendor document review, and procurement input
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, SIL assessments, and client meetings, providing technical support during installation and commissioning phases
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, hazardous area requirements (ATEX/DSEAR), IEC standards, and company procedures while maintaining document control and quality assurance throughout projects

Requirements:

  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Electrical, Instrumentation, Control Engineering, or related discipline
  • Proven experience producing EC&I design deliverables within gas, oil & gas, energy, or process industries
  • Strong knowledge of hazardous area installations and gas industry processes
  • Experience interpreting P&IDs, engineering specifications, and working across the full design lifecycle
  • Experience with industrial infrastructure, such as gas transmission, distribution, or processing facilities

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical, with experience in EPLAN or AVEVA, desirable
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation systems, PLC/SCADA, control panel design, and electrical distribution
  • Knowledge of functional safety systems, field instrumentation, and hazardous area design

Desirable:

  • Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering
  • Professional membership or working towards chartership
  • COMPEX awareness/certification or Functional Safety training
  • Experience within regulated utilities, gas storage, LNG, hydrogen, or similar sectors

  • Able to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to manage workload effectively
  • Flexible to travel to the site when required
