About the Role:
As a Senior/Principal EC&I Engineer, you will define and manage the scope of work, ensuring all activities are executed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. You will lead and supervise a team of engineers, manage subcontracts, and deliver designs that support Design Reviews, HAZOPs, and safety cases across complex nuclear projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead EC&I design, specification, procurement, installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, and operator training for nuclear projects
- Provide technical consultancy and liaise with multi-discipline teams
- Manage project quality, progress, cost, and documentation
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers, including resource management and recruitment
- Manage contractors and sub-contractors while reinforcing a strong safety culture
- Support sales, customer care, and bid preparation
Essential Requirements:
- Degree in a relevant technical/engineering discipline or equivalent experience
- Full UK driver''s licence
- Working towards or holding Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
- Minimum 5 years'' experience in the nuclear industry
- Strong understanding of design requirements for nuclear safety cases
- Proven experience managing sub-contracts and leading technical teams
- Knowledge of safety regulations including CDM
- Skilled in checking design documentation, drawings, and calculations
- Strong organisational, collaboration, and deadline-driven skills
Desirable Attributes:
- Chartered Engineer or near chartership, membership in IET or similar
- Experience integrating EC&I design with control systems (PLC/SCADA)
- Experience in design substantiation for nuclear safety cases
- Defence sector experience
- Experience in bid preparation
