The Role
As an Early Years SEN Teacher, you will:
- Teach a small class of approximately 6 pupils aged around 10 years, working at EYFS and Key Stage 1 developmental levels
- Deliver a sensory-based curriculum tailored to individual learning needs
- Support pupils with Autism, sensory needs, communication difficulties, and attention needs
- Focus on developing communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and independence
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists, and specialist support staff
- Create a calm, structured, and engaging learning environment
- Plan creative and differentiated lessons that inspire progress and participation
- Use or develop knowledge of communication tools such as Makaton, PECS, AAC systems, and visual timetables
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Primary or Early Years teaching background
- ECTs are warmly encouraged to apply
- Passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Patient, nurturing, and adaptable teaching style
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to helping every child achieve their full potential
Previous SEN experience is welcomed but not essential. The school provides excellent support for teachers looking to develop their SEN knowledge and skills.
