Job Title: Early Years / Childcare Assessor
Location: East Sussex
Contract Type: Temp - Part Time
Rate: -20 - -25 per hour

Eden Brown are looking for a committed and experienced Early Years / Childcare Assessor to join the team at Further Education College in East Sussex

Hours - 450 Hours - anticipated over 31 weeks - so roughly 2 days per week. Days will typically be Monday & Wednesday.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality assessment, guidance, and support to learners working towards Early Years and Childcare qualifications (Levels 2 and 3). Working with students both on-campus and in their workplace settings, you will help them develop their skills, build confidence, and meet their qualification requirements in line with awarding body and apprenticeship standards.

This is a vital role within our Health & Social Care and Early Years department, supporting our mission to prepare students for employment and further study in the childcare sector.

Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out workplace visits and observations to assess learner competency against qualification standards.
- Deliver engaging and supportive assessment sessions, both in person and online.
- Support learners in developing portfolios and preparing for End-Point Assessment (EPA) where applicable.
- Track learner progress using digital systems and provide regular, constructive feedback.
- Work closely with curriculum tutors, internal quality assurers, and employers to ensure a coordinated approach to learner success.
- Ensure all assessment and documentation meets awarding organisation and college quality standards.
- Promote safeguarding, equality, and inclusivity at all times.

Essential Criteria:
- Assessor qualification (e.g. CAVA, TAQA, A1).
- Level 3 qualification (or higher) in Early Years/Childcare.
- Substantial occupational experience in an Early Years setting.
- Experience assessing learners in a Further Education, apprenticeship or training provider setting.
- Ability to build positive relationships with learners, staff, and employers.
- Strong administrative, organisational, and IT skills, including the use of e-portfolios and tracking systems.

Desirable:
- Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification.
- Experience delivering Functional Skills in English and Maths.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship standards, EPA requirements, and current Ofsted frameworks.
- Experience supporting learners from a range of educational and socio-economic backgrounds.

A DBS is also required for this role, if you do not have one Eden Brown can get one for you.
