Are you an experienced Criminal Solicitor looking for your next opportunity with a well-established regional law firm?
We are working with a respected law firm in the Black Country that is looking to appoint a Duty Criminal Solicitor to join its established Criminal Defence team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who is passionate about criminal defence, enjoys advocacy and wants to be part of a supportive and well-established regional practice.
The Role
You will handle a varied caseload of criminal defence matters, representing clients from initial instruction through to conclusion.
The role will include:
Police station representation
Magistrates’ Court advocacy
Crown Court matters
Preparing cases and advising clients on plea and strategy
Conducting conferences with clients
Reviewing evidence and preparing cases for trial
Representing clients at hearings
Providing clear, practical and robust legal advice
Working as part of the wider Criminal Defence team
There will be a strong emphasis on duty solicitor work and advocacy, so this role would suit someone who enjoys being in court and is looking to develop their experience within a busy criminal practice.
About You
We are looking for a qualified Criminal Solicitor with solid experience in criminal defence.
Ideally, you will:
Be a qualified solicitor with experience in Criminal Defence
Hold, or be working towards, Duty Solicitor accreditation
Have strong advocacy skills
Be confident representing clients at the police station and in court
Have excellent client-care and communication skills
Be able to manage a busy caseload and work effectively under pressure
Be commercially aware and committed to providing a high level of client service
Be a team player who wants to build a long-term career within a regional firm
Higher Rights of Audience would be advantageous but are not essential.
