DT Technician - Secondary School - Barking & Dagenham

Role: DT Technician / Design Technology Technician

Tradewind Recruitment are looking for a DT Technician to join a secondary school in Barking & Dagenham from November 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Design Technology Technician, Workshop Technician, Engineering Technician or Resistant Materials Technician looking to work within a busy and supportive secondary school DT department.

You will support teachers and students across practical Design Technology lessons, helping to ensure workshops, equipment and resources are prepared and maintained safely.

Duties will include:

• Preparing tools, materials and equipment for DT lessons

• Maintaining workshop areas and machinery

• Supporting practical lessons

• Carrying out routine equipment checks

• Managing stock and resources

• Ensuring Health & Safety procedures are followed

• Supporting staff with practical demonstrations and projects

You will ideally have experience within:

• Design Technology

• Resistant Materials

• Product Design

• Engineering

• Woodwork

• Workshop or technical environments

Previous school experience would be advantageous, although candidates with strong practical or workshop experience will also be considered.

You must be reliable, organised, safety conscious and comfortable working around secondary-aged students.
