The main duties of the experienced Drainage Engineer are: Lead highway drainage reactive maintenance and minor works programmes, supporting the delivery of annual highway maintenance objectives. Identify and resolve difficult-to-access locations where parked vehicles obstruct gully cleansing, drainage, street cleansing and reactive highway maintenance activities. Develop and deliver targeted maintenance programmes using Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and coordinated stakeholder engagement. Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams including Highway Operations, Network Management, Waste & Cleansing Services, contractors, residents, community groups and elected Members. Plan and programme gully cleansing, drainage maintenance, street cleansing and associated highway works, ensuring resources and contractors are efficiently deployed. Coordinate temporary parking restrictions, traffic management, signage, communications and operational arrangements to facilitate safe access for maintenance activities.
