Draftsman

We are seeking a skilled Draftsman to join our Geomatics Department in Muscat, Oman. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing precise technical drawings, alignment sheets, and detailed plans derived from survey and design data. Using both traditional drafting skills and advanced CAD techniques, the Draftsman will support engineering, construction, and GIS deliverables.

This role requires the transformation of survey field data into high-quality drawings, the preparation of alignment sheets for pipelines, overhead lines, and utilities, as well as the development of 3D models for visualization and BIM integration. Collaboration with surveyors, engineers, and GIS specialists is essential to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery.
This is a 2 year contract and must relocate to Oman.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving Data

• Collect survey data, design sketches, and project requirements.
• Review work orders and client specifications to confirm completeness.
• Verify survey field data (GNSS, Total Station, Drone imagery, LiDAR) for accuracy.

• Create accurate technical drawings, plans, and alignment sheets from survey and design data.
• Utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other CAD platforms for 2D/3D models, profiles, and cross-sections.
• Integrate CAD outputs with GIS platforms, ensuring accuracy.
• Develop 3D models for visualization, BIM integration, and coordination.

• Produce and submit drawings, alignment sheets, and 3D models according to QA/QC standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, surveyors, and GIS analysts to refine deliverables.
• Support preparation of drawing packages, reports, and presentations.

• Maintain organized archives of drawings and models.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards for document control.
• Update libraries, templates, and symbology as required.
• Maintain version control and proper documentation.

• Technical Diploma in Drafting, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Training in AutoCAD (mandatory); Civil 3D is an advantage.

• 2-3 years of drafting experience, preferably in surveying projects.
• Experience preparing technical drawings, alignment sheets, and basic 3D models.
• Familiarity with GNSS, Total Station, and Drone imagery.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Civil 3D.
• Ability to read and interpret survey data and design sketches.
• Knowledge of QA/QC standards for drafting.
• Understanding of document control, file naming, and archiving.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and willingness to learn.

• Proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently while seeking guidance when necessary.

• Good working knowledge of English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Additional language skills are an advantage.

• Primarily office-based with occasional field visits.
