About the Role

Adept Resourcing are recruiting for a Drafts Person to join a growing engineering team in Sheffield. This is a great opportunity for someone with a basic grounding in CAD and technical drawings who is looking to develop their career in engineering design. Full training and support will be provided, making it ideal for recent graduates, college leavers, or candidates with some practical design experience who want to build on their skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce clear and accurate drawings from written and verbal requirements.

• Support the translation of customer requirements into workable design solutions.

• Use 2D/3D CAD software to create and update drawings.

• Make simple modifications to existing designs under guidance.

• Assist with material selection and design considerations for manufacturing.

• Provide technical support to colleagues where required.

• Ensure all drawings follow company standards and are approved before release.

• Work closely with sales, engineering, and production teams to gather information.

Customer Service & Teamwork

• Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure drawings are correct and meet customer expectations.

• Respond professionally to internal and external enquiries.

• Support the wider team and contribute to a positive working environment.

Training & Development

• Gain hands-on experience with CAD systems including Draftsight and Solidworks.

• Receive ongoing training in design, manufacturing processes, and materials.

• Develop knowledge of industry standards and best practice in engineering design.

General Duties

• Work flexibly to meet deadlines and business needs.

• Follow company policies including Health & Safety and Quality Assurance.

• Take a proactive approach to learning and career development.

Person Specification



Knowledge & Experience

• Basic knowledge of technical drawings and design processes (essential).

• Experience using 2D/3D CAD software (educational or work-based).

• Understanding of mechanical principles (desirable).

Skills

• Good attention to detail and accuracy.

• Willingness to learn and take direction.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.

• Good communication skills (written and verbal).

• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• A-Levels, BTEC, NVQ, or equivalent in a technical/engineering subject (essential).

• HNC/HND or equivalent in Drafting/Design/Engineering (desirable but not essential).
