Job Description:
Document Controller
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: -15.50 - -18.00 on PAYE
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours.
Length of Contract: 3 months
Responsibilities & Duties
- Establish, maintain, and manage the project document control system (e.g. SharePoint, Viewpoint, 4P etc.)
- Receive, log, register, and distribute all incoming and outgoing project documentation
- Control document numbering, revision status, and version control in line with project procedures
- Ensure drawings, specifications, technical submissions, RFIs, EWNs, and correspondence are correctly issued and tracked
- Maintain document registers and trackers, ensuring accurate and timely updates
- Manage transmittals to and from clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Archive superseded documents and maintain a clear audit trail
- Support project teams with document queries and ensure compliance with information management requirements
- Assist with handover documentation, O&M manuals, and project close out records
Essential Experience & Skills
- Background and understanding of a variety of engineering projects and processes.
- Understands and has experience working with Document Control/Management
- Demonstrable stakeholder engagement, influencing and relationships skills.
- Experience using BIM 360 Docs
- Experience and understanding of site based Operational business processes and practices.
- Knowledge of Engineering applications and their associated data structures
- An awareness of the Utilities / Power / Construction industry.
- A working knowledge of an Engineering Drawing Office, Design Office and document control processes
- A working knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) tools, processes and practices
- Awareness and knowledge of BS1192 / ISO19650
- Ability to work as part of a project team as well as a wider Document Control team, looking for opportunities to improve procedures across the UK through thoughtful and actionable suggestions
