This role is based in London and is a critical senior hire with full ownership of safeguarding responsibilities across our regulated entities, accountable for regulatory compliance, liquidity oversight, and execution of NIUM''s treasury framework. This role works cross-functionally with Finance, Compliance, Legal, and Product teams and serves as a key contact for regulatory and audit engagements related to safeguarding.Responsibilities
Safeguarding (Primary Accountability)Serve as the accountable safeguarding owner across all NIUM entities where applicableMaintain and update safeguarding policy and procedures in compliance with FCA, EEA, MAS, and other relevant regulations as NIUM’s entities and licences growOversee daily safeguarding reconciliations, asset segregation, and safeguarding fund optimisationEnsure readiness for audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting on safeguarded fundsWork with Legal/Compliance to assess and implement permissible safeguarding investment optionsCollaborate with Product and Engineering to deliver technical capabilities and reduce operational riskCash ManagementOversee daily cash positions across multiple currencies and corridorsImplement and manage short-term liquidity forecasts and funding needs for operational and safeguarded flowsSupport pre-funding frameworks, including risk-based allocation models across customers and corridorsOptimise own-fund usage and liquidity buffers while maintaining regulatory complianceTreasury Operations and GovernanceMaintain robust treasury policies, SOPs, and internal control frameworksLead operational excellence in banking infrastructure, payment rail access, and account setupActively manage bank relationships and monitor treasury SLAsCollaborate on system upgrades and treasury automation opportunitiesReporting and Risk MonitoringDeliver timely and accurate reports on cash positions, safeguarding levels, liquidity coverage, and reconciliation statusSupport Board/Committee updates on safeguarding health and risk metricsAssist with statutory audit requests and treasury-related disclosures in collaboration with FinanceRequirements10 years in a treasury, finance, or risk role, preferably within a regulated EMI, fintech, bank, or payments companyHands-on experience with safeguarding frameworks under FCA, MAS, or EU rulesStrong working knowledge of multi-currency operations, liquidity planning, and banking operationsExposure to audits, regulatory reviews, or interaction with financial supervisors is a plusStrong financial acumen with advanced Excel and treasury tool proficiencyClear communicator with ability to influence across functionsHighly organised with strong documentation, reconciliation, and controls mindsetAble to operate independently with full ownership and accountabilityWhat we offer at NIUM
