1 day ago Be among the first 25 applicantsThis isn’t a role where you keep things ticking over. It’s one where you take full ownership of a unique Oxford estate and lead lasting change. You’ll be the most senior estates person in the College, reporting directly to the Bursar, with a clear line into decision-making. You’ll shape long-term investment in the estate, lead a capable team, and deliver upgrades that matter, from environmental improvements to modernising listed buildings. We’re a compact Oxford estate, centred on the main College site with a handful of nearby accommodation buildings. If you’ve been waiting for the right role to stretch your leadership and shape better environments, you’ll find plenty of headroom here. Why this role is different
Be a visible, valued voice in senior conversations, because your insight can make a difference to strategic decision-making.Lead with freedom and impact, with the trust and space to do things your way.Well-funded and focused, resources in place, one site to focus on.A culture built on trust, not turnover.Work that outlasts you, strategy, not just operations. What you’ll bring
You’ll have senior experience managing buildings and infrastructure, and you know your way around MandE systems. You’ll need a relevant degree (or equivalent), a Health and Safety qualification, and the confidence to operate independently. Most importantly, you’ll have the credibility and judgement to win trust, and the communication skills to bring your team, contractors, academics, and senior committees with you.And in return? You’ll get 41 days’ paid leave, including bank holidays, private healthcare from day one, support for training and professional development, a generous contributory USS pension, free meals while the kitchens are open, and discounts on local travel. But more than any single perk, it’s the chance to be part of a close-knit community, where people stay because the work and culture genuinely matter.About Nuffield College
Nuffield is a small, postgraduate-only college in the heart of Oxford, home to around 100 students and 100 academics. We’re a close-knit community where quality matters more than size, and where estates decisions are felt immediately. The scale means your work will have a direct, visible impact.Interested?
