Alnylam PharmaceuticalsReporting to EandC International Head TTR, the UK/IE, Canada and Nordics (hereinafter, Medium Sized Markets - MSM - North) Compliance Officer, is responsible for overseeing and supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of an effective Ethics and Compliance program in the UK/IE and MSM North markets. The role will be member of the International EandC LT and work closely with colleagues in the broader International and Global Ethics and Compliance team, with the Country Heads of the countries under scope and their leadership team s , and cross - functionally wit h other departments (eg. Legal, Medical, HR, IT, Finance and business colleagues ) to sustain Alnylam’s strong ethical culture and ensure employee adherence.This position is
hybrid office based in our UK affiliate in Maidenhead, UK .Key ResponsibilitiesPartner with UK/IE and MSM North country leadership teams to maintain and further develop a strong culture of ethics and compliance throughout the organization , including individual accountability at all levels , with a spirit of partnership and positive problem solving.Implement and evolve the Ethics and Compliance program in UK/IE and MSM North markets and in regional activities and projects you may be involved in, to ensure consistency with the Alnylam’s values and principles, fit - for - purpose approach and compliance with applicable local and above - market requirements .Provide solutions - oriented compliance advice/support to the business on compliance matters, to advance the proactive identification, assessment and mitigation of compliance related risks.Monitor and maintain a current understanding of regulatory and compliance trends and changes in local laws, applicable industry codes and/or guidelines relevant to Alnylam’s operations in the UK/IE and MSM North to inform the continuous improvement of the local Ethics and Compliance program .Develop, implement and/or update UK/IE and MSM North Ethics and Compliance policies and procedures, to ensure compliance with applicable local laws, regulations and industry codes and alignment with global policies.Support the implementation and maintenance of affiliates transparency reporting requirements and assist business leadership in meeting reporting obligations.Assist in implementation and execution local risk based third party due diligence.Foster a data protection culture within the organization and help to implement essential elements of company data protection policies and procedures, and applicable local requirements.Ensure the existence of an effective training and communications program to ensure understanding of employee responsibilities and ethics, compliance and data privacy issues, as well as related policies and procedures, including as applicable in - person sess ions, campaigns and others as applicable per UK/IE and MSM North needs.Execute annual UK/IE and MSM North risk assessment and routine, risk - based monitoring of relevant business activities; identify potential areas of compliance and data privacy vulnerability and risks; assist in and oversee the implementation of corrective action plans , as necessary .Collaborate with Compliance Investigations, to support investigations into allegations of misconduct and/or implement programmatic remediation, as required .Manage administrative and operational aspects of the Ethics and Compliance program in UK/IE and MSM North markets .Collaborate cross - functionally with departments such as Legal, Medical, HR, IT, Finance and business colleagues to, as needed, (i) advise, coordinate and/or facilitate implementation of policies, procedures or practices related to compliance, (ii) identify emerging ri sks and (iii) assist in implementation of identified remediation, as applicable.As an LT member of the International EandC team, support the deployment of the regional and/or global EandC a strategic priorities and initiatives, includ ing global and/or regional EandC initiatives and priorities, including providing input, participating in best practice sharing and/or activities as relevant.Execute regional/global escalation for critical issues and matters within the Ethics and Compliance function.Other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time in the company’s discretion .QualificationsIntegrity and high professional ethics.Bachelor’s Degree required (Legal or other relevant degree) with 8+ years of professional experience in ethics, compliance and/or legal in an organization subject to biopharmaceutical, medical device or other relevant healthcare compliance laws and regulations .Knowledge of foreign healthcare fraud and abuse laws (e.g. UK Bribery Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, , industry codes (e.g. ABPI Code) and relevant Data Privacy legislation required . Experience with Transparency reporting a plus.Demonstrated leadership and ability to work collaboratively and cross - functionally in a team environment with a wide variety of company personnel, across the broader organization on a broad range of matters, in a multi - cultural environment. Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities simultaneously and to flourish in a fast - paced and high energy environment .Able and eager to work autonomously and to manage and oversee discrete areas of responsibility with little direct supervision, with proper understanding of above - market escalation principles and EandC functional independence.Able to thrive in a proactive ethical culture in which compliance and business objectives are mutually reinforcing; strong motivation and ability to champion a comprehensive compliance program that is integrated well with the Company’s business and cultureExcellent organization, communication (verbal and written – fluency in English required, any other additional language a plus) and prioritization skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in a global environment, to integrate compliance and business considerations, and to provide solutions - oriented advice regarding compliance risks.Some international travel may be required.About Alnylam : We are the leader in RNAi therapeutics – a revolutionary approach with the potential to transform the lives of people with rare and common diseases.
