We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Digital Manufacturing Engineer - Civils and Construction, to be involved in prospecting world changing technology by developing meaningful relationships with some of largest entities across the globe.
Job Purpose:
We''re looking for passionate individuals to help realise our Digital Industrialisation Vision by building a complete digital record of the RR SMR power station, from concept to commissioning. This involves applying consistent data standards and a shared digital language across the entire value chain.
This role spans everything from CAD drawings and simulations to product details, instructions, physical components, and all the data and documentation created during build and commissioning. You''ll play a key role in supporting and evolving our digital systems and technologies, ensuring that people, processes, tools, and information are aligned and production ready.
You''ll collaborate closely with teams across Design, Manufacturing Engineering (ME), Supply Chain, Operations, and SMR IT to understand their business processes to define digital tools to standardise and simplify how we work. This includes improving how we use design data, developing new ways of working, creating and running simulations for on-site activities and material movement.
Together, we aim to define an end-to-end digital thread that supports delivery of RR SMR product and ensures that real-world data is captured and maintained throughout its lifecycle to provide future insights.
Key Results & What Can Be Achieved in The Role:
Achievement in this role will be measured against on-time and on-budget delivery of digital technologies and systems projects to the required level of maturity, and ability to influence SMR IT delivery to support programme milestones.
Initially focussed on the development of digital tools and supporting rules that are essential for the successful planning and execution of the civils and construction elements of the SMR power station. To do this, the successful candidate will need to understand the civils and construction digital landscape, and support definition of the technology and capability roadmap for RR SMR to enable full digital twin of each deployment of the product.
The role will progress into the operational performance, and support of digital operations across various RR SMR facilities, Supply Chain, and Partners including demonstrator programmes designed to mature manufacturing technologies, skills, and define best practice for people, process, information, and tools for continuous improvement.
The Key Selection Criteria:
Criteria 1: Proven ability to develop, deploy and support digital systems into a construction and supply chain settings. Using structured approaches to problem solving and a continuous drive for improvement.
Criteria 2: Demonstrates that product and process safety is of paramount importance through assuring products through design and manufacture, complying with all applicable legislation and codes of professional conduct.
Criteria 3: Proven ability to define, plan, monitor and control projects, programmes, and work packages, ensuring the work is delivered to cost, quality and schedule while communicating this complex technical information in a simple and effective way.
Criteria 4: Proven ability to collate and validate user requirements, understand the implications for the components of Digital Systems (People, Process and Tools), define interfaces and data flows using mapping tools and to describe business and end user implications of a Digital Systems implementation within a business and define test procedures to mitigate the implications.
Criteria 5: Ability to integrate well within a project team in a commercial environment. This will include working in collaboration with external partners and suppliers.
Qualifications & Training:

- Demonstrated experience of the application of digital tools within a construction and/or supply chain.
- Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g., UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent) in an engineering or construction discipline.
- Experience working within an engineering or construction business familiar with the manufacture/production in a highly regulated or controlled industry (e.g. nuclear, aerospace, defence, pharma)
- Experience in complying with Export Control requirements.
- Understanding of Product Lifecycle Management and Information Management
- Understanding of Building Information Management and Common Data Environments
- Appreciation of Manufacturing or Construction Continuous Improvement
Pay and Benefits
We anticipate paying a salary of between -40,000 - -52,500 plus:-
- Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 12.5%
- Benefits Allowance - -2200, enabling you to create a bespoke package
- Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
- Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days

- Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
- -250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
We are Rolls-Royce SMR
Each Rolls-Royce SMR power station will have the capacity to generate 470MW of low carbon energy, equivalent to more than 150 onshore wind turbines and enough to power a million homes. It will provide consistent baseload generation for at least 60 years, helping to support the roll out of renewable generation and overcome intermittency issues.
