Development Engineer | Northampton

We are working with a well known residential developer, known for building high-quality homes and sustainable communities. As they continue to grow across the East Midlands region, their Northampton division is looking for a skilled and motivated Engineer to join the Technical/Engineering team.

The Role

As an Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of their residential developments from land acquisition through to site completion. This includes working closely with internal departments, external consultants and on-site teams to ensure engineering designs are accurate, compliant and cost-effective.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate technical engineering designs and drawings.
  • Assist with infrastructure, drainage, highway, and foundation design reviews.
  • Manage technical information flow between consultants, contractors, and the wider team.
  • Provide engineering support to site teams to resolve technical issues as they arise.
  • Ensure all engineering work complies with relevant regulations, standards, and NHBC requirements.
  • Support feasibility studies, land assessments, and planning submissions.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely distribution of technical information.
About you

They’re looking for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented and passionate about delivering high-quality developments.

Essential skills & experience
  • Previous engineering experience within housebuilding, civil engineering, or construction.
  • Strong understanding of residential infrastructure design (roads, sewers, levels, drainage).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering reports.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with design and engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD).
  • Relevant industry qualifications (HNC, HND, Civil Engineering degree or similar).
Desirable
  • Experience working with local authorities, utilities providers and NHBC.
  • Knowledge of SuDS, Section 38/104/278 processes and adoption standards.
