Steel Designer

to join a well-established structural and architectural steelwork company based in Bedford. The business delivers a wide range of projects across London and the Home Counties, covering both structural steel and architectural metalwork.The Role:As a Steel Designer, you will be responsible for producing accurate and detailed designs for both structural and architectural steelwork projects. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to ensure all designs meet client specifications, comply with industry standards, and are fully buildable in the workshop and on-site.Key Duties:Producing detailed GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and 3D models for structural and architectural steelworkCreating Bills of Materials and cutting lists for productionInterpreting and working from architectural and engineering drawings and specificationsDesigning steel structures and metalwork in line with relevant codes and regulationsLiaising with project managers, engineers, and the workshop to ensure practical and efficient designsCoordinating with site teams to provide design support during installationEnsuring all designs meet quality, safety, and compliance standardsMaking amendments to drawings and models based on client or project requirementsSupporting multiple projects simultaneously, delivering to deadlinesThe Candidate:Strong experience as a Steel Designer within the structural and/or architectural steelwork industryProficiency in relevant design and detailing software (such as Tekla Structures, Advance Steel, or AutoCAD)Solid understanding of fabrication and installation processesAbility to interpret architectural and structural engineering drawingsExcellent attention to detail and problem-solving skillsStrong communication skills for liaising with clients, engineers, and internal teamsLocation and Projects:Office-based in BedfordProjects located across London and the Home CountiesThis is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing company with a strong reputation in the steelwork sector, offering a variety of challenging projects and long-term career ..... full job details .....
