We are seeking an experienced Design Manager in Exeter for high-profile Design and Build projects across Devon. Lead design teams, coordinate with architects, and ensure all projects meet top quality standards. 

About the Role

Join a top Exeter-based contractor delivering iconic regional Design and Build projects across public and private sectors. Expertise includes refurbishment, fit-out, and full design and build services for Government, Local Authorities, Healthcare, and Education clients. 

As a Design Manager, you will:

- Lead the design management of construction projects from concept to completion.
- Collaborate with site teams, architects, consultants, and senior management.
- Ensure all design deliverables meet project timelines, quality standards, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

- Review project information including employer’s requirements, contractor proposals, and design team appointments as a Design Manager.
- Ensure timely submission and approval of all design documentation to meet project deadlines.
- Assist in commercial and technical evaluation of specialist subcontractor tender returns, interface coordination, and alternative designs.
- Prepare technical submissions for alternative designs, systems, components, products, or material proposals for client approval.
- Maintain design quality, compliance, and alignment with project schedules.
- Progress approval of specified design certifications, including CDM, BREEAM, and Secure by Design.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- HNC / Degree in a construction-related field.
- Proven experience as a Design Manager with JCT, NEC, or Design and Build contracts.
- Strong understanding of sustainability in design.
- Proficient in MS Office and SharePoint.
- Valid driving license.
