Design Manager

Join a respected manufacturer known for developing high-quality engineered products. We’re seeking a Design Manager to standardise and streamline processes that take concepts from idea through to production.

Role Overview:
Lead a small, multi-disciplinary design team to ensure concepts move efficiently from idea to production. Drive innovation, maintain high standards, and implement repeatable processes that improve quality, cost, and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and coach the design team, managing multiple product projects.

Standardise design-to-production workflows, ensuring consistency and efficiency.

Translate creative concepts into functional, manufacturable products.

Maintain product data, BOMs, and design documentation.

Apply DFM principles and value-engineering to optimise products.

Support production launches and provide technical guidance across teams.

Research new materials, processes, and technologies to enhance products.

Ensure regulatory compliance and manage design governance.

Candidate Requirements:

Mechanical design background

Experience implementing processes

5+ years leading engineering/design teams

Knowledge of GD&T highly beneficial

Proven experience taking products from concept through to production

Knowledge of metal manufacturing techniques, including machining, fabrication, and welding

Hands-on, pragmatic problem-solver with a process-driven mindset

Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills

The Package:

Competitive salary circa £60k per annum

Candidates meeting all requirements may earn up to £70k
