The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Design Manager currently working within design management for a large building contractor to join the team in Toronto.

As Design Manager, you will be responsible for planning, organising, directing, controlling and evaluating construction design projects from start to finish, ensuring delivery in accordance with programme, specifications and budget.

You’ll work across major commercial, public-sector, healthcare and industrial building projects, with experience on projects valued at a minimum of £40m+ required.

The structure and delivery of projects in Canada differs from the UK market, but with more than 15 years of experience recruiting within Canada, we can provide detailed guidance throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan, organise, direct, control and evaluate construction design projects from start to finish.
* Manage the design process in accordance with project schedules, specifications and budgets.
* Coordinate design activities throughout the project lifecycle.
* Work closely with project and construction teams to ensure design requirements support successful project delivery.
* Maintain oversight of design programme requirements and project specifications.
* Support the effective delivery of major building projects across commercial, public-sector, healthcare and industrial sectors.

Qualifications & Experience

* Proven experience working in Design Management for a large building contractor.
* Experience delivering major building projects valued at £40m+.
* Strong project experience across commercial, public-sector, healthcare and/or industrial construction.
* Experience managing construction design from planning through project delivery.
* Strong understanding of project schedules, specifications and budgets.
* Ability to work effectively across major, complex construction projects.
