Are you a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate or early-career Design Engineer looking to develop your skills within a global manufacturing environment?
We are currently recruiting for a Design Engineer I to join a leading engineering business based in Ipswich. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of projects, supporting the development of high-quality, cost-effective mechanical designs within a supportive and experienced team.
This role is open to graduates with a relevant degree, although the ideal candidate will have 1-2 years'' practical experience in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities: -
- Produce mechanical designs that meet performance, reliability, and cost requirements
- Create and maintain documentation including drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions
- Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are practical and efficient
- Ensure compatibility across components, assemblies, and wider systems
- Carry out basic FEA/CAE analysis to support decisions
- Support continuous improvement and design optimisation activities
- Collaborating with internal teams on new product development
- Ensure designs meet relevant standards, regulations, and quality requirements
- Assist with test planning, validation, and development activities
- Support testing and contribute to ongoing design improvements
About You: -
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Graduate or 1-2 years'' experience in a design/manufacturing role
- Experience or understanding of working with metals, plastics, or alloys
- Basic knowledge of engineering development processes (prototyping, testing, DFM)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Motivated, proactive, and eager to develop your career
Technical Skills: -
- Experience with CAD software
- Exposure to FEA tools (e.g. ANSYS) desirable
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
What''s on Offer: -
- -30,000 - -35,000 salary (depending on experience)
- 9 day fortnight, Monday to Thursday with every other Friday off
- Hours are 07:00-16:00
