Design Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Design Engineer to join a dynamic product development team within a leading automotive organisation. This role focuses on design feasibility, CAD development, and collaboration across both technical and creative disciplines. This role is offered on a contract basis in Essex.We are looking for individuals with a curious and innovative mindset, a strong sense of design understanding, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams both inside and outside of the design department.Key Responsibilities: Coordinate and support feasibility and design processes. Deliver design feasibility status updates, hardpoints planning, and executive summaries. Support technical benchmarking and identify best-practice technical solutions for project-specific needs. Own the CAD design and development of complex components, including both single parts and assemblies with interdependent functions. Collaborate with internal and external departments to align on technical requirements and resolve design challenges. Review incoming CAD data for compliance with technical standards. Ensure technical feasibility and correct dimensioning of CAD outputs (e.g., strength, rigidity, mass, centers of gravity, etc.). Contribute to the continuous improvement of CAD data delivery in terms of timing and quality. Develop and maintain project documentation, presentations, and CAD archives.
