Temporary and permanent designSigns (design and fabrication)Company Website:Company Showcase Video:Job security, long-term secured work through various frameworks and large infrastructure schemesBroad range of civil engineering and mechanical and electrical schemes across some of the UKs largest infrastructure projects and clientsStrong career progression as demonstrated by our track record in promoting from within as we believe this is a key driver to our successSkills Development and TrainingDesign EngineerThe purpose of this role is to carry out detailed structural design and checking of temporary works and permanent works for civil engineering and to provide technical support to assist with operational activities.Technical designPrepare and check detailed technical designs (including calculations, drawings, risk assessments, design certificates)Obtain independent checks and/or third-party technical approvals (e.g. for rail works)Ensure design outputs meet CDM/health and safety/environmental complianceTechnical supportPropose and/or develop value-engineered alternative solutions (during design or construction phases)Undertake a review of defects or compensation events and advise on solutionsAssist with the developing and maintaining processes, procedures and standards for technical designDeliver required services on time and to cost/quality standardsDesign and Engineering team and other technical staffProject-based staff including Contracts Managers, Project Managers, Site Agents, Site EngineersPrevious experience within the structural engineering field, experience in the detailed design of structures either permanent or temporary works including the use of frame analysis software, structural design software and the use of CAD software for design purposes and sketchesAbility to carry out calculations by hand or in software such as MathCADWorking knowledge of relevant industry specifications (Eurocodes, BS 5975 and other BS standards for structural design still used in the industry)Experience in structural engineering office carrying out design calculations, analysis and developing or following structural methodologyA mix of site and design office experienceCurrent relevant CSCS cardAs a Gold Investors in People company and a Sunday Times 100 Best Company to Work For, we are committed to investing in people.
