Job Role-Deputy Residential Home Manager
Duration- 12 weeks
Hours- 37 hors per week
Pay rate- -300 per day (umbrella rate)
Location-Thornton House 1 Goode Court Kettering NN15 5FG
Working arrangements- Mostly in the residential home however flexible to allow some work from home days

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our Children''s Residential Home and play a key role in providing high-quality care and support for children and young people. Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will help lead the home, ensuring outstanding standards of care, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance while creating a nurturing environment where children can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day operation and management of the home.
  • Lead, supervise, and motivate staff, conducting regular supervisions and supporting professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with the Children''s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, safeguarding policies, and relevant legislation.
  • Monitor and promote the safety, welfare, and positive outcomes of children and young people.
  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, behavioural support plans, and placement reviews.
  • Effectively manage incidents, safeguarding concerns, complaints, and disciplinary matters when required.
  • Support staff recruitment, onboarding, induction, and ongoing training.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation to a high standard.
  • Build positive relationships with social workers, families, schools, healthcare professionals, and other partner agencies.
  • Participate in the management on-call rota and provide leadership in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • Support continuous service improvement, development plans, and preparation for Ofsted inspections.
  • Promote a positive, child-centred culture that supports emotional well-being, educational achievement, life skills, and independence.


About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience working within a Children''s Residential Home setting.
  • Experience supervising and leading staff teams.
  • A thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures and relevant children''s legislation.
  • Knowledge of Children''s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and professionals.
  • Experience in care planning, risk assessment, and behaviour management.
  • A commitment to achieving excellent outcomes for children and young people.


DVLA check Travel in own vehicle not required, however travel in the work vehicle to support with things such as school pick ups may be required. Ie number of days in office/number of days at home Mostly in the residential home however flexible to allow some work from home days

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. As this role is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check, applicants are required to declare any cautions and convictions that are not protected under current filtering rules.
