Job summary
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, well-motivated individual to join our team as a Deputy Quality Manager within the Pharmacy, Diagnostics and Genetics Care Group at Sheffield Children''s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will share the Trust values and be a compassionate, accountable individual who treats all colleagues, patients and service users with respect whilst delivering excellence in their role.
Main dutiesThe Deputy Quality Manager, under the leadership of the Quality Manager, will assist in maintaining and developing the Quality Management System (QMS) for the Pathology Laboratories. The objective is that the Pathology Laboratories become progressively more effective and efficient in quality terms and meet regulatory and accreditation requirements.
The post holder will provide support, advice and guidance to Care Group and Departmental managers in the areas of document control, audit, corrective/preventive actions, incident management, management of training, asset and supplier records, and preparation for UKAS/MHRA/HTA accreditation visits. The post holder will be a key member of the quality management team.

Person SpecificationQualifications and Training
Essential
BSc in a Science related subject e.g. Biomedical Science (2.2 or above).
Evidence of active participation in Continual Professional Development (CPD).
Desirable
Appropriate MSc or equivalent evidence of extended practice
Recognised Quality Management qualification e.g. IBMS Certificate of Expert Practice in Quality Management
Basic management/leadership qualification
HCPC registration or professional registration in a scientific or quality management field
Experience
Essential
Laboratory background with relevant experience of external regulatory accreditation (e.g. UKAS, CPA, HTA, MHRA) and laboratory quality management processes.
Experience in quality management; conducting audits to regulatory standards; presenting to staff to inform and influence practice.
Experience of building effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
Knowledge of statutory requirements and accreditation systems.
Understanding of laboratory quality management theory.
Experience with Quality Management Software (e.g. QPulse) and IT/Microsoft software for data manipulation and reporting.
Knowledge of diagnostic testing procedures; Health and Safety, COSHH, and Risk Management, esp. hazards with biological fluids, chemicals, and solvents.
Good written and verbal communication; good teaching and presentation skills.
Diplomacy and interpersonal skills; ability to negotiate and mediate; persuasive communication to engage stakeholders.
Ability to prioritise and manage multiple priorities; problem solving and data analysis skills.
